Gold coin American Buffalo 1 Oz was first published by United States Mint on 22 June 2006. The coin in itself symbolizes American culture and history as well as depictions on it.
The obverse side of the coin shows the head of an Indian by the famous American sculptor (James Earle Fraser). The inspirations for the current coin’s image were probably three different Native American leaders: Lakota Sioux Chief Iron Tail, Cheyenne Chief Two Moons and other unidentified leader. The reverse side shows an American Buffalo. It is believed that the buffalo, which is depicted on the reverse side of the coin, lived in the zoo in New York and wore the nickname Black Diamond.
Private investors appreciate not only the careful stamping, but also the high quality of the coin - gold content is 999,9 (24 carats). Coins are minted only in the size of 1 Oz with denomination value of 50USD.
